Bougainvillea
Beach Resort & Sand Acres Beach Hotel host British
Game Show broadcasted live from Barbados!
Barbados was the venue last week for a multi-million-dollar
game show carried live on London's BBC 1 television.
Saturday's live satellite show, carried from the Bougainvillea
Beach Resort to about ten million viewers in Britain,
featured National Lottery Jet Set winner Stuart Scott,
who won three weeks' holiday and was treated to a
week each in three luxury destinations, including
Barbados.
Scott, accompanied by his mother Liz Scott, spent
his first week in the French Alps, the next week in
Rio de Janeiro, and last week here, staying at a West
Coast beach front villa.

During the past week, the Scotts were treated to various
activities, including a private charter to various
activities, including a private charter to Canouan,
and lunch with local celebrities led by wind surfer
Brian Talma.
"The
winner gets the best of everything and we chose Barbados
not only because of it's people, beaches and weather
but because it's a luxury destination" said the
show's director Guy Templeton. Each week's winner
faces another opponent from London, and if they lose
they return home to the British capital. Scott lost
Saturday, giving a new winner the opportunity to fly
to Hawaii.

NEWS RELEASE
August 14th, 2001
Bougainvillea
Beach Resort & Sand Acres Beach Hotel embark on
intensive, quality-standards driven, environmentally
conscious Excellence in Housekeeping Program with
a touch of green!
The
entire Housekeeping Staff attended an Organic Housekeeping
workshop, which sensitized the team to the fragility
of our environment and the critical part housekeepers,
and homemakers can play in both preserving and restoring
the environment of Barbados. The workshop, conducted
by Louise John, of Talkabout Presentation Skills,
Antigua, was highly interactive and culminated in
a recipe-making session. Having tested the recipes
and learnt the Safe Toilet Cleaning techniques, the
team committed to practicing the knowledge learnt
and the on-going Housekeeping Program.
Avril
Clarke, Executive Housekeeper, says, I was
inspired by this holistic approach to housekeeping
over 18 months ago and am delighted to be the first
hotel in Barbados to commit to an intensive 5-month
training program for my whole team. Our goal is to
improve working conditions, the health & safety
of our team, guests and importantly to positively
impact the excellent product offered by Bougainvillea
/ Sand Acres for all guests and staff.
Margaret
Moore-Bostic, Assistant Executive Housekeeper
I am happy with the standards this program has already
started to put in place; in 2-days I am seeing an
improvement in bathroom cleanliness and appearance,
this can only positively impact the guest experience.
On
completion of the Excellence in Housekeeping Program
with a touch of green! Each person will take a stringent
test, successful completion of which will result in
Certified Housekeeper status.
The
Excellence in Housekeeping Program is the first in
the series of operational training programs which
will take place over the next 12 to 18 months and
which will impact all departments in the hotel. These
training programs will include supervisory skills
development, train the trainer workshops, food and
beverage service and customer care.
In
addition to the operational training, Bougainvillea
Beach Resort and Sand Acres Hotel have stepped up
their efforts at achieving their Green Globe 21 certification.
To this end they have written Green Globe expressing
their intent and have requested that their property
be audited later this year.
