Amels 6007 Sets Sail for the First Time Into Open Waters

By Sophia Spanton

In an exciting step for Dutch yacht building, the Amels 6007, seventh in the acclaimed Amels 60 series, has set sail for open waters for the very first time. In the early hours of April 16, 2025, this 60-metre superyacht slipped through the lock at Vlissingen, marking the beginning of her eagerly anticipated sea trials and a new chapter in her journey to deliver.

The Amels 6007 emerges as a testament to the evolution of luxury yacht design and engineering. As the latest hull in the Amels 60 series, she carries forward the signature clean, modern lines crafted by Espen Øino International. Her bright white superstructure, accented by bold black detailing and geometric windows, ensures she stands out on the water while maintaining the timeless elegance for which Amels is renowned.

Beneath the surface, Damen Yachting’s in-house naval architects have delivered a platform that is both stable and efficient. Twin MTU engines propel the yacht to a top speed of 15.5 knots, with a comfortable cruising speed of 13 knots, a performance that will be rigorously tested during these sea trials before her handover to her owner in early summer 2025.

For the first time, Amels partnered with the esteemed London studio Harrison Eidsgaard to create a full interior concept. The result is a sophisticated, contemporary take on 'beach house luxury'. A warm palette of sandy tones, natural textures, and an abundance of natural light. Expansive windows in the main saloon frame sweeping sea views, while stainless steel, bronze, and natural oak details add depth and refinement throughout the living spaces.

Accommodation is plentiful, with six en suite guest cabins for up to 12 guests, including a main deck owner’s suite complete with a private balcony: a hallmark of the Amels 60 series.

As the Amels 6007 completes her sea trials, she represents not just a new vessel, but a continuation of a proud tradition of excellence. With several more yachts under construction; including the larger Amels 80 series and the record-breaking 120-metre Project Tanzanite. Damen Yachting continues to set new standards in the world of superyachts.
