Cantieri di Pisa’s Refit Division Soars as Demand for Superyacht Upgrades Peaks

By Nora Hart

Cantieri di Pisa’s refit division is experiencing an extraordinary surge in demand, with over 30 superyachts currently undergoing major updates. Among these prestigious vessels are a 50-metre Benetti, a 41-metre Feadship, and a 43-metre Perini Navi, all nearing completion and soon to be returned to their owners. This remarkable growth comes after a fivefold increase in sales in 2024, reflecting a booming demand for the shipyard’s expert refit services.

These projects encompass a wide range of services, from exterior painting to class renewals. Marco Massabò, CEO of Cantieri di Pisa, highlights the division's impressive expansion, with 24,000 square metres of dedicated space for refits. The division employs 20 full-time staff, with plans to grow the team further. Each project typically engages between 200 and 300 professionals along the supply chain, emphasising the collaborative effort behind every superyacht’s transformation.

The reputation of Cantieri di Pisa extends globally, with clients from distant regions choosing the shipyard for their refits, despite the availability of yards closer to home. One recent example is a majestic Perini Navi sailing yacht, which traveled from Monaco to Pisa via Claudio Simonazzi’s Simonazzi Yachts. Such international trust highlights the quality and efficiency that has become synonymous with Cantieri di Pisa.

Since being acquired by Enrico Gennasio in 2021, the shipyard has embraced a new era of innovation under the leadership of Massabò. Modernised facilities, a focus on eco-friendly technologies, and a new fleet featuring the exclusive EHPH (eco-high-power hull) design have propelled Cantieri di Pisa into the future of yachting.

Cantieri di Pisa remains steadfast in their mission to transform vessels into extraordinary masterpieces, reimagining their forms and functions while staying true to the values of innovation, performance, and elegance.
