The 78th Cannes Film Festival is confirmed to take place from May 13 to 24, 2025, at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès in Cannes, France. French actress Juliette Binoche will preside over the main competition jury, succeeding Barbie director Greta Gerwig, who led the 2024 jury. This marks only the second time in the festival’s history that a female jury president has passed the role to another woman, following Olivia de Havilland (1965) and Sophia Loren (1966).

The Official Selection lineup will be announced on April 10, 2025, during a press conference in Paris led by festival president Iris Knobloch and artistic director Thierry Frémaux. While no films have been officially confirmed, industry speculation highlights potential premieres such as Christopher McQuarrie’s Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, Wes Anderson’s The Phoenician Scheme, and Celine Song’s Materialists.

Robert De Niro will receive the Honorary Palme d’Or during the opening ceremony, hosted by French actor Laurent Lafitte. The festival will maintain its focus on sustainability, continuing initiatives like reduced red-carpet waste and eco-friendly transportation.

The Marché du Film (May 13–21) will run alongside the festival as a global hub for industry deals. Cannes’ 2025 edition continues its legacy of blending cinematic prestige with environmental responsibility, attracting filmmakers, stars, and audiences to the French Riviera.

Please note: The film lineup remains speculative until the April 10 announcement.
